PUBLISHING TECHNOLOGY SALES & PRODUCT SUPPORT SPEC
Description
To provide technical sales and product support to TSG journal sales representatives, prospects and customers. Job Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Provide technical sales support to TSG Journal Sales Reps, prospects and customers • Understand and stay current on major STM customer workflows and emerging trends • Demonstrate the uses of TSG journals production tools and services to customers and prospects • Facilitate the training of customers, sales reps and TSG personnel on existing and emerging publishing technologies • Participate in brainstorming discussions and be open to diverse opinions and customer needs • Conduct routine customer visits to update customers on new TSG services and workflow tools • Analyze existing and prospective customer workflows and suggest changes as applicable • Develop and present seminars at customer sites, TSG sites, and/or professional conferences regarding various editorial, graphic arts, composition and electronic deliverable-related topics 2. Work closely with operations and technical staff at TSG Journals Companies • Conference with TSG personnel and customers to help resolve workflow issues • Effectively communicate and involve TSG personnel on various journal projects • Maintain regular communication with TSG CIO regarding existing and emerging projects that will impact the TSG journal companies. • Participate as required in the transition of new customers into TSG journals workflows • Reapply best practices across customers as directed 3. Liaise with Peer Review Systems, Online hosting companies, software vendors, off shore suppliers. • Maintain relationships with key contacts • Maintain familiarity with XML based workflows and key technical aspects of our offshore suppliers and various vendors systems • As directed, work to integrate TSG Journal systems with these organizations
Qualifications
Experience and Requirements: 1. Bachelors degree in Publishing or related field. 2. 5 or more years of experience in publishing, knowledge and experience in the production processes and related publishing functions. 3. 3-5 years experience in project management with increasing responsibility and demonstrated strong business background. 4. Proficient in Windows operating systems and/or Macintosh operating systems. 5. Proficient in MS Office applications with a focus on the ability to prepare professional documents and presentations. 6. Technical understanding of software systems related to editorial and composition systems including MS Word, Design Science MathType, LaTEX, typesetting systems (i.e. 3B2, XyVision, Miles) desktop publishing systems (Adobe Creative Suite). 7. Capable of learning quickly, understanding, and demonstrating new software applications and services. 8. Familiarity with SGML/XML related to journal publishing workflows. Including metadata, DTDs, and content management through online hosting of full text HTML content. 9. Knowledge of and familiarity with industry organizations, peer review systems, online hosting systems, and secondary hosting systems such as PubMed, PMC, Ovid, etc. 10. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 11. Excellent presentation and public speaking skills; ability to adjust delivery based on audience 12. Excellent problem-solving skills 13. Ability to think strategically and act tactically 14. Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously with little or no direction 15. PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
Description
The Production Supervisor is responsible for customer service and quality assurance for journal production services. This position includes monitoring work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, monthly customer and vendor reporting, personnel management, and communications with customers, vendors, printers and online providers. Must be willing to move to second shift after initial training period.
Qualifications

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES SUPPORT SPECIALIST
Description
This position within the IT group is responsible for providing personal computer hardware and software support to employees. Responsibilities also include administration of hardware and software support plans, upgrades, software licensing and inventory tracking.
Qualifications
Associates degree in computer science, computer technology or other related field of study. Two years of experience providing user support in a Microsoft Windows XP, Office 2003 and Server 2003 environment, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

PRODUCTION SPECIALIST
Description
Performs production management duties, from copyedit review through release to press. Provide direction to Assistants and support for the account team. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Contact author/editorial office for missing elements or substandard materials. 2.For outsourced copyediting: Work with team to prioritize assignments. Review copyediting by freelancers, resolve queries and provide feedback as necessary. 3.For in-house copyediting: Edit manuscript per specific journal style. Resolve editing and art queries with author and editor. 4.Review incoming advertising materials and resolve queries/problems. 5.Track materials (mss, art, ads, etc) at article and issue stages with Assistant support as needed. Maintain pertinent internal and customer databases. 6.Prepare electronic files and associated materials for composition and/or imaging. 7.Perform pre-compile and compile duties. Review author and editor corrections and revised art. Clarify instructions for composition and scanning. Review article and issue revisions. Maintain updates of issue standing matter. 8.Check offshore partners’ products for compliance with journals style and specifications. Review/QC image, cover and ad proofs as required. Resolve basic quality concerns. 9.Correspond with authors, customer, offshore partner, manufacturer, online provider(s), etc, regarding schedules, special instructions and job status. 10.Verify final files and prepare job release materials, including Closing Memo and notifications to manufacturing and online providers(s). 11.Maintain procedures documentation, and contribute to ongoing workflow refinements. 12.Responsible for training new staff 13.Other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
1.Bachelor’s degree preferred, or minimum 3 years editorial/composition/publishing and customer service experience.2.Organized and attentive to fine detail. Must be able to multi-task.3.Excellent verbal and writing skills.
