PRODUCTION SPECIALIST
Description
Performs production management duties, from copyedit review through release to press. Provide direction to Assistants and support for the account team. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Contact author/editorial office for missing elements or substandard materials. 2.For outsourced copyediting: Work with team to prioritize assignments. Review copyediting by freelancers, resolve queries and provide feedback as necessary. 3.For in-house copyediting: Edit manuscript per specific journal style. Resolve editing and art queries with author and editor. 4.Review incoming advertising materials and resolve queries/problems. 5.Track materials (mss, art, ads, etc) at article and issue stages with Assistant support as needed. Maintain pertinent internal and customer databases. 6.Prepare electronic files and associated materials for composition and/or imaging. 7.Perform pre-compile and compile duties. Review author and editor corrections and revised art. Clarify instructions for composition and scanning. Review article and issue revisions. Maintain updates of issue standing matter. 8.Check offshore partners’ products for compliance with journals style and specifications. Review/QC image, cover and ad proofs as required. Resolve basic quality concerns. 9.Correspond with authors, customer, offshore partner, manufacturer, online provider(s), etc, regarding schedules, special instructions and job status. 10.Verify final files and prepare job release materials, including Closing Memo and notifications to manufacturing and online providers(s). 11.Maintain procedures documentation, and contribute to ongoing workflow refinements. 12.Responsible for training new staff 13.Other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
1.Bachelor’s degree preferred, or minimum 3 years editorial/composition/publishing and customer service experience. 2.Organized and attentive to fine detail. Must be able to multi-task. 3.Excellent verbal and writing skills. Professional level of phone and email skills. 4.Able to resolve conflict in a professional manner. 5.Good computer skills, including keyboarding, file management, databases, and experience with MS applications. 6.Cooperative with other departments and personnel, and able to maintain positive relationships with customers. 7.Able to meet deadlines. 8.Understand journal style elements and production process.

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
Description
Provide support to the Production Specialists for production tracking, pre-edit structuring of manuscript, vendor file transfer, customer proof distribution, file maintenance/archiving, and all journal and book schedule adherence. JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Update FileMaker Pro database per Department procedures for all incoming and outgoing materials to/from customers and global offshore partners. 2.Evaluate incoming manuscripts and graphics for completeness and production readiness; report missing materials to Production Specialist. 3.Pre-edit manuscripts using eXtyles software. 4.Review art and prepare for pre-flight and processing. 5.Size art and log in database per customer/title specifications. 6.Transfer electronic manuscripts and graphics to appropriate vendor(s) and resolve any related transfer problems. 7.Maintain good communications and relations with offshore partners and other departments and staff. 8.Send electronic proofs and hard copy proofs, per customer requirements, to editorial staff, authors and editors. 9.Check vendor products for compliance with specifications per Department procedures and under the direction of the Production Specialist. 10.Process author offprints. 11.Perform periodic system maintenance and archiving. 12.Back up Office Coordinator duties as necessary. 13.Assist in creating and updating Department procedures including special mailing instructions. 14.Contribute to ongoing workflow refinement. 15.Assist in training new staff as assigned by the Supervisor. 16.Perform general office duties such as filing, photocopying, and faxing. 17.Other duties as assigned.

CLIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST
Description
Support Senior Client Services Specialist with the following: 1.Coordinate all account related activity and communication with our customers, outside sales, internal DJS personnel and manufacturing sites. 2.Responsible for customer service interaction, preparation of schedules, project management, and arrangements for customer visits, both on and off site. 3.Track and expedite progress on major customer projects. Coordinate internal efforts and ensure customer satisfaction. 4.Develop and maintain knowledge of customers’ work flows and lead new account transitions collaborating with sales, production and technology staff. 5.In coordination with the Sr. Client Services Specialist, serve as account information resources for internal staff and outside sales. 6.Within the period of one year, be responsible for a limited customer base. 7.Communicate with our global partners to address any production and cost related issues. 8.Stay current with knowledge of STM publishing, latest trends and market developments. 9.Monitor quality, schedule adherence and overall production workflows to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. Communicate relevant account status to appropriate sales representative during the absence of the Sr. Client Services Specialist. 10.Adhere to safety policies and procedures, while maintaining an overall awareness of safety within the workplace. 11.Perform other job related duties as may be assigned or required.
